Natalie Morton, PsyD (La Jolla)
(She/Her/Hers) Psychological Associate Supervised by Dr. Kim Schulz-McGlenn
Hello!
My name is Dr. Natalie Morton, PsyD (Psychological Associate, PSB94027777, supervised by Dr. Sarah Kimberly Schulz-McGlenn, PSY31683). I’m a post-doctorate therapist in the bright and sunny city of San Diego! I specialize in individual therapy working with adults and adolescents of all ages, focusing on major and minor life adjustments.
I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California, San Diego in 2016 and earned my master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology.
In my past experiences, I’ve worked as a therapist in San Diego in numerous settings such as hospitals, crisis centers, and geriatric facilities. In these settings, I worked with diverse client groups that ranged from active-duty military, acute dual diagnoses, geriatric caregivers, eating disorders, grief and loss.
The foundation of my practice relies on psychodynamic theory viewed through a humanistic lens. I focus on discovering how experiences and thoughts shape an individual’s life and the systemic factors that guide a person’s upbringing. I tailor my practice to the individual using skills based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to assist one in finding balance and stability in life. I view therapy as a collaborative process during which we will work together to foster growth. I believe unconditional positive regard and empathy to be the most important principles upon which the therapeutic process may unfold.
My expertise is primarily focused on adjustment issues and stressors individuals may face after major life changes occur. Using a trauma-informed lens, I provide my clients with the tools necessary to not only cope with their life experiences but thrive. I also specialize in issues around the integration of psychedelic experiences, grief and loss, relational issues, depression, and anxiety.
As a therapist in San Diego, and as a native Californian, I’d be honored to work with you and facilitate your own personal healing journey.
In my spare time, I enjoy reading, going to the beach and taking way too many pictures of my cat, Garbanzo.
I am an in-network therapist for Cigna, Aetna, and Anthem Blue Cross.
