Licensed Clinical Psychologist
Hi, I’m Dr. Brenn Kane, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY36475) and therapist in San Diego at Hillcrest Psychological Associates. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages who may be struggling with emotional pain, life transitions, identity concerns, or relationship patterns and are seeking greater alignment with who they are and how they want to live.
My therapeutic approach is relational, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I identify as a member of the LGBTQ+ community and am deeply committed to providing affirming, trauma-informed care that honors each client’s intersecting identities, lived experiences, and cultural context. My work is grounded in relational psychodynamic therapy and informed by evidence-based practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I have trained extensively as a therapist in both outpatient and inpatient settings in San Diego and Denver, including National Jewish Health, Denver Health, the University of Colorado School of Medicine, and Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. I am experienced in treating a wide range of presenting concerns across the lifespan, including anxiety, depression, trauma-related concerns, ADHD, OCD, autism spectrum conditions, and personality-related patterns. I take time to get to know each client’s individual needs, preferences, and goals.
As an integrative San Diego therapist, my work is insight-oriented and focuses on identifying patterns that tend to repeat in relationships and life. Together, we gently notice these cycles, explore where they come from, and practice new ways of responding, supporting greater choice, relief, and authenticity. I am also well versed in psychological assessment and use this foundation to develop treatment plans that are individualized, evidence-based, and aligned with each client’s personality and healing trajectory. I view mental health as a continuum and aim not only to support healing, but to promote overall well-being and help clients thrive.
Outside of my clinical work, I enjoy yoga, reading, cooking, hiking, snowboarding, scuba diving, and learning to surf. I value staying connected to mind-body practices, nature, and creativity, and I believe these elements play an important role in emotional health and well-being.
