Dr. Carson offers therapy for a range of concerns, including, anxiety, depression, psychosis, relationship/interpersonal difficulties, anger management, and difficult life transitions. His approach is person-centered and strengths based, drawing from evidence based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In his work, Dr. Carson strongly believes in the Recovery Model which emphasizes helping clients achieve functional goals and pursue what really matters to them in life. He aims to help each client to pursue their meaningful goals and actualize their aspirations. To achieve this, he engages in tenets of Recovery-Oriented CBT including focusing on the positive, empowerment through beliefs, challenging self-defeatist behaviors, and focusing on the whole person.

Dr. Carson also approaches his work through a multicultural perspective and is committed to understanding each client’s own unique cultural background to provide culturally sensitive and effective treatment. He works with individuals of all backgrounds and aims to create an environment based on respect and understanding. He has a speciality in treating individuals within the LGBTQ+ community in addition to members of the Veteran community.
