Kendra Barcenas, PsyD (Hillcrest)
(She/Her/Hers)
Psychological Associates supervised by Dr. Eric Hanna, PhD (PSY20506)
Hello! I am Dr. Kendra Barcenas, a postdoctoral therapist in San Diego at Hillcrest Psychological Associates (Registered Psychological Associate 94029250) supervised by Eric Hanna, Ph.D. (CA Licensed Psychologist PSY20506). I am a Spanish speaking therapist in San Diego who believes that every person has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding. I focus on creating a safe and nonjudgmental space where you can explore your experiences at your own pace.
I work collaboratively with clients, helping you reconnect with your true self and inner strengths. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief/loss, relationship challenges, or a desire for deeper meaning, my goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and empowered to live more fully. I work with individuals of all backgrounds and identities and am committed to cultivating a therapeutic relationship based on respect, compassion, and trust. I have a special interest in working with college students and young adults.
As a Latina San Diego-based clinician, I utilize evidence-based approaches like CBT, ACT, and Motivational Interviewing. I’ve worked in community-based programs, community college counseling, private practice, and university counseling. Outside of therapy, I find balance and inspiration through spending time with family, friends, and traveling. I recognize that starting therapy can be intimidating and overwhelming. It’s not always easy being vulnerable, especially when you’re unsure of what to expect. I respect the courage it takes to begin this process and I hope to provide you a supportive space where you feel safe to come as you are.
I am an in-network therapist for Cigna, Aetna, Blue Shield, and Anthem Blue Cross.
