(She/Her/Hers) Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Hello! My name is Dr. Kimberley Schulz-McGlenn, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist in San Diego, California. I have been a therapist in the field for over 10 years, helping adults and older adults manage stress, cope with transitions, and connect with a deeper sense of meaning and purpose. I am a “wholistic” psychologist who takes an integrative approach, incorporating both the mind and body into the process of healing. If you are looking for a therapist to help you compassionately navigate anxiety, depression, challenges related to changes in identity or health, chronic pain and/or health conditions, issues of aging, or grief and loss, you are in the right place.

I seek to be a partner in my client’s healing journey, and start and end my approach from a place of empowerment and collaboration. I have a passion for helping individuals deepen their self-awareness and increase their psychological and physical wellness. I have extensive training in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and specialize in mindful self-compassion (MSC). I tailor my approach to my client’s individual context, life circumstances, and personal strengths. No two people are exactly alike, and as such, psychological treatment should not be a one-size-fits-all approach. My hope as a therapist is to assist my clients to reconnect with their personal values and more flexibly and adaptively navigate the human experience.

I got my start in the field in 2003 first as a volunteer with a therapeutic horseback riding program, and then as an animal-assisted therapy specialist visiting nursing homes, assisted living facilities, adult day care centers, and long-term care facilities with a variety of species of small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, and dogs). My dream was, and continues to be, to be a therapist in San Diego guiding those affected by various life circumstances toward an increased sense of wellness, belonging, and connectedness. I completed my American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctorate in Clinical Psychology at California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP) at Alliant San Diego, my APA-accredited doctoral internship at through Sharp HealthCare, at Sharp Mesa Vista hospital in San Diego, and my post-doctoral training at both San Diego State University (SDSU) and Sharp Mesa Vista Hospital. I have offered therapy, psychological assessment, program development, and community outreach at a chronic pain clinic, cancer center, psychiatric hospital, eating disorder facility, college counseling center, and several facilities offering outpatient mental health care.

I believe you, and we, can do hard things, which is why I hope you click the book appointment button above to take a courageous step toward living a more meaningful, authentic life.

I am an in-network therapist for Cigna, MHN, Lyra, and Aetna in San Diego.
