Lisa Jensen, Ph.D. (La Jolla)
(She/Her/Hers) Licensed psychologist specializing in individual therapy
Dr. Lisa Jensen is a clinical psychologist with experience in the treatment of anxiety, depression, learning differences, stress resulting from life transitions, and challenges in interpersonal effectiveness. Her work has been focused on the ways in which people improve their connections with others and become more mindful of the ways in which they interact and communicate.
Dr. Jensen’s therapeutic approach is cognitive behavioral and interactive. She utilizes a variety of assessment measures to help others gain a better understanding of themselves. She also provides evaluations of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Dr. Jensen completed her undergraduate degree at Colorado State University and went on to obtain her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with an emphasis in children and families from the California School of Professional Psychology in 1997. She interned at university counseling centers in San Diego and went on to gain additional experience working as the director of a social skills group for children on the autism spectrum and their peers. Prior to moving back to the San Diego area and joining Hillcrest Psychological Associates, Dr. Jensen had a small private practice in Colorado in which she provided diagnostic evaluations specifically for ASD and ADHD, individual, couples and group therapy for children and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, and gender dysphoria. She is passionate about supporting gender expansive individuals and is continually impressed with the determination and positive changes she sees in transgender individuals.
In her down time, Dr. Jensen enjoys spending time outdoors with her family, as well as quiet moments with a book.
I am an in-network therapist for Cigna, Lyra, MHN, and Aetna.
