Rand Palomino, Ph.D. (La Jolla)

(He/Him/His) Licensed clinical psychologist specializing in depression, anxiety, relationship and goal-oriented issues

Dr. Rand Palomino is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with experience in the treatment of depression, anxiety, relationship and adjustment issues. He specializes in exploration of personal values and their alignment with emotional and relationship concerns as well as academic, professional and personal pursuits.

Dr. Palomino utilizes cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal approaches with his clients. His collaborative style allows for focus on areas for acceptance and change.  Each client has their own unique values, beliefs, strengths and challenges.  He believes that these individual factors are vital aspects to be honored and explored to guide the development of strategies to cope with difficulties, adjust to transitions and strive toward personal goals.

Dr. Palomino earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and obtained his master’s and doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology-San Diego. He has enjoyed working with students at both San Diego State University and Alliant International University, as well as with clients within in-patient psychiatric and community-based psychology settings. He has experience working with clients from varying ethnic backgrounds and with members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Palomino has also been involved in psychiatric research for the past 25 years focusing on new and innovative empirically-based treatments for conditions including depression, anxiety, dementia, schizophrenia, and pathological gambling, among others. He is a proponent of a multi-faceted approach to client care and feels that collaboration with outside providers is an important part of treatment.

In his personal life, Dr. Palomino enjoys spending time with his family, exploring nature and water sports.
